Thailand - day 75 (MHS)

Leiri alkoi tänään. Lapsia on lähemmäs 200. Heillä oli ensimmäinen kokoontuminen klo 19:30. Tänne on tullut australialaisista koostuva tiimi, joka on vastuussa kokouksista ainakin huomiseen asti. Minut laitettiin ryhmään "soong" eli kaksi - tai niin Elina minulle sanoi. Täytyy katsoa, kuinka paljon pystymme osallistumaan, sillä opetushommat jatkuu, kuten myös yritykset selviytyä tästä helteestä, mikä varmaan kuitenkin tukahduttaa meidät minä hetkenä hyvänsä. Olen varma, että lapset eivät pysty enää ymmärtämään sanaakaan, mitä yritän selittää heille kitkasta ja neliöjuurista ja englannin kieliopista ja heinäsirkoista ja... Niin...

The camp began today. There are closer to 200 kids here. At 7:30pm they had the first assembly. Here's an Australian team that has come up to the mountains to be in charge of the meetings at least until tomorrow. I was put to group "soong" aka two - or so I was told by Elina. We'll see how much we can participate for all the teaching we still have to do and for all the surviving the heat stuff that's going to take the best of us probably soon anyway. I'm sure, the kids can't understand a word anymore what I am telling them about frictions and square roots and English grammar and grasshoppers and... Yeah...


Kuumuus jatkuu. Tuulen viilentävä vaikutus on olematon. Edes yöllä lämpötila ei laske paljoakaan alle +30 asteen. Tämän viikon maksimilämpötiloja sääennustusten mukaan:
Phuket (turistiparatiisi): 32-34*C
Bangkok: 36-38*C
Chiang Mai: 37-39*C
Mae Hong Son: 40-42*C !!!
Missä on tästä oikeudenmukaisuus?!! Haluan Phuketiin viilentymään edes vähän! 35 astetta on vielä siedettävä, 40 ei ole!

The heat continues. The wind's chilling effect is nothing. Even during nights the temperature doesn't get much below +30 degrees. This week's max. temperatures according to weather forecasts:
Phuket (tourist paradise): 32-34*C
Bangkok: 36-38*C
Chiang Mai: 37-39*C
Mae Hong Son: 40-42*C !!!
Where's the justice in this?!! I want to go to Phuket to cool off even just a bit! 35 degrees is still bearable, 40 is not!
