Thailand - day 63 (CM)

Olen pahoillani, Laura.

I finally made it to the school even though Timo first drove past me. All the houses look the same. The electric wires are put up so strangely and there are huge, colourful signs everywhere. The cars on the other hand are all the same: big, silver-grey Toyota 4x4’s. After school we went to Duke’s for lunch.
After lunch the others went swimming while Virpi-Maria and I left for Index, which is a local “Ikea”, a home products retailer. We were supposed to change a broken lamp for a new one but that ended up being so difficult that Virpi-Maria eventually bought two new ones and got the broken one fixed, which I shall get into my room so I can read in the evening. There was one very beautiful candle stand at Index and had it been small enough to fit inside my suitcase I would’ve bought it, but it was 150 cm tall and 50 cm wide. After Index we went looking for a coffee shop nearby where Virpi-Maria bought fake “Marimekko” cups and we had cappuccinos.
In the evening I went to the Hang Dong’s prayer meeting. I don’t understand how anyone would ever want to go to a Christian meeting without getting anything out of it. There was a woman there who was pregnant for her second child and married to a non-believer. I started to cry when I thought about the unstable environment where the child must live and grow up. It’s just not fair for the child, if the parents hold such opposing views with their outlook on life.
The snack in the evening was supposed to be just a small snack but we ate a whole ice cream pack and talked well past midnight. I don’t seem to be able to send an SMS from my local sim-card to Bulgaria to a Finnish sim-card. My own Finnish sim-card is in Mae Hong Son. I’m so sorry, Laura.
