Aamulla oli siis Kids’ club alkaen kello 10:00. Menimme sinne Duanin mopolla, minä ajoin. Melkein kuolimme! No emme ihan.
On KUUMA!
Australialaisten suosima triviaalikysymys: Missä on Tasmania? Tai mikä on Australian pääkaupunki? Daa-a…
No, katsoimme elokuvan sijaan Hennan valokuvia. Olen traumatisoitunut lopun elämääni... Juttelimme taas myöhään. Mielenkiintoista kyllä, miten ajattelemme samalla tavoin monesta asiasta. Pelottavaakin välillä.
So in the morning we had the Kids’ club at 10am. We got there by Duan’s moped, I drove. We nearly died! No, not really. The moped is new and in good shape, so it was easy to drive. I just love the Thai traffic. Henna didn’t enjoy the speed for it’s not very steady to sit in the back of the moped so I wasn’t allowed to drive more than 70km/h. I’m bitter…
Thai kids are lovely and pretty. And obviously smart: 2-3-year-old Nanthip knew how to use my camera. Many adults don’t know how to use my camera tough it is very simple! Henna taught English for the kids and they played different games. They raced fetching picture cards according to what Henna had told them to pick et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I had to count the score and I was out like a snowman at times. We didn’t drive back to Henna’s anymore but took the songthaew.
It’s HOT! A guy came to fix Henna’s air/con 1,5 hours later than agreed. Everything in Thailand is so sanuk (=easygoing)! The air conditioning worked when we left for the Airport Plaza. We went to the Internet, KFC and Swensen’s. When we returned to Henna’s the air/con didn’t work anymore. Another sticky night ahead.
In the evening we left for the Night Bazaar with Rob and Alex, local Australians. It was very difficult to change the language to nothing but English for I’ve been able to mix Finnish and English however I’ve wanted with Henna. So called frog ladies are infuriating. They move amongst the people with their little wooden frogs trying to sell them. The sound that the frogs make is really irritating. When Henna was at the Night Bazaar for the first time Rob told in Thai to a few of the frog ladies that Henna likes those frogs and five women had started to follow her immediately. Funny… I bought Adda’s “fake crocs”, 150 baht, and a scarf, 60 baht. I was also thinking that a digital SLR camera wouldn’t be such a bad idea. A real one, 40,000 baht.
On our way back I talked to Alex and we lay in the back of the songthaew on our seats as Rob drove and Henna wanted the air conditioned space in the front. Alex didn’t know exactly where Finland was or that there really was a country called Estonia. She knew Norway from the Norwegian friends. I knew that Americans had problems with their geography but that Aussies too?! They don’t have compulsory geography at school, I was told. A popular trivial question by the Australians: Where is Tasmania? Or what is the capital of Australia? Well duh… Or what do you think, Maija?
In the evening we watched a movie called The Perfect Storm with Henna. It didn’t play all the way though and was cut right where the actual storm started. I don’t how it ends. It was Rob’s DVD and later when we asked about it, he said that “yeah, it irritates me too when it cuts like that”. He couldn’t tell that to us earlier! Well, instead of the movie we browsed through Henna’s photos. I’m traumatized for life... We talked so late again. It’s interesting how we think alike with so many things. Also scary at times.
