Thailand - day 37 (BKK-Cha Am)

Lähtömme viivästyi kolme tuntia aiotusta klo 12:sta, mutta lähdimme kuitenkin iltapäivällä määränpäänä Cha Am ja aikomuksena löytää joku paikka, missä olla yötä. Muussa tapauksessa pystytämme teltan yöksi rannalle. Meitä oli siis Joni, Emma, Jukka, Tomi ja minä. Ajoimme koko Cha Amin läpi, totesimme Hiltonin olevan aivan liian kaukana sivistyksestä ja palasimme sitten erääseen huoneistohotelliin nimeltä Saeng Thong. Se oli ehkä joskus 90-luvun alussa rakennettu suurehko rakennus, joka tarjosi ihan kivan uima-altaan.
Saimme huoneiston, jossa oli siis kaksi makuuhuonetta ja suurehko olohuone. Se maksoi 1500 bahtia yöltä, eli 300 bahtia per henkilö. Saimme jopa kaksi avainta. Tällaista luksusta ei meille tarjottu edes kolmen tähden The Park -hotellissa Chiang Maissa Suomi-päivillä. Minulle siirrettiin sänky olohuoneen puolelle ja sain peitokseni valtaisan vihreän pyyhkeen. Muuten huone oli ihan kiva – mikäli ei välitä oudosta hajusta. Ehkä ilmastointi tepsii ennemmin tai myöhemmin...
Heti huoneistohotellin vieressä oli viihtyisä ravintola, josta sai hyvää pähkinäkanaa. Lisäksi tarjoilijat olivat todella mukavia.

We left three hours later than the planned 12:00pm. We left with an aim to reach Cha Am and to find a place to stay the night. Otherwise we would just put up our tent by the beach and sleep there. So there were Joni, Emma, Jukka, Tomi and I. We drove through the whole Cha Am, found that Hilton was way too far from the civilisation and then returned to one condotel called Saeng Thong. It was pretty big building, probably built sometime in the beginning of the 90’s and it offered an OK swimming pool.
We got an apartment which had two bedroom and rather large living/dining room area. It cost 1500baht per night so 300 baht per person. We even got two keys. Luxury like this wasn’t offered to us even in the three-star The Park hotel in Chiang Mai during the Finland-conference. The boys moved my bed to the living room and as a blanket I received a huge green towel. Otherwise the room was nice – if you didn’t mind the weird smell. Maybe the air/con will have some effect on this sooner or later…
Right next to the condotel there’s a cosy restaurant where they serve really nice chicken with cashew nuts. And the waiters were really nice too.
