We got
ourselves delicious pizzas from Domino’s and called for a taxi to get back to our
flat. It costs £5 to get to the hospital unless you take the taxi straight from
the taxi rank by the bus stop (about 50 meters from where we usually need the
taxi from) in which case they’ve had their meter running since the moment they’ve
parked there and the trip ends up costing at least £7. So we called them to come and pick us up… The people here really do not walk anywhere.
Here's what the parking lot looked like when we got back to the flat:
And for comparison material, here's a photo of my school's parking lot in March 2012:
Some women just shouldn't be allowed a car...
Rest of
the afternoon and evening I spent in bed. I’m feeling so extremely cold and rather
feeble. I refuse to be sick so I’m expecting this feeling to pass by tomorrow. Hanna and Susanna are both well. It’s been raining today – in showers but quite regularly.
We read some
FHM tonight. For those who don’t know it’s a men’s lifestyle magazine. Here are
some unisex things that will make your life better:
- Beach within easy reach – studies show that people living near the coast tend to be healthier and happier than those living inland.
- Seeing the rings of Saturn – to get some perspective.
- An actual alarm clock – for healthier balance with life and technology.
- A winter jacket that could survive a new ice age – and don’t act surprised when it gets cold in winter, it does so pretty much every year. (All you gits living in countries with mellow climate throughout the year can skip this one.)
- Keep your fridge stocked with glass-bottled Coke – for the sake of the strangely satisfying clinking sound whenever you open the fridge door.
- Make your digital photos physical – no explanation needed.
- Draw up a five-year-plan – helps you focus on which direction you should head in.
- Eat a proper Sunday lunch every Sunday.
- Remember people’s birthdays – you’ll guilt trip people into making sure no one ever forgets to buy you something for your big day.
- Be the world expert on one subject, no matter how obscure – and hope it comes up in the pub quiz.
