Thailand - day 12 (Chiang Mai)

Heräsimme Johannan kanssa 8:36. Lähdin aamupalalle hänen ja erään toisen Johannan ja tämän Johannan aviomiehen, Jonnen kanssa. Miika liittyi seuraan vähän myöhemmin. En ollut koskaan tavannut muita, paitsi nyt huonekaveri-Johannan eilisiltana. Ruokailusalissa tapasin Marian, joka oli samalla kurssilla kanssani Keuruulla tammikuun alussa. Maria on Laosissa, kuten muukin porukka jonka kanssa söin, tekemässä samoja hommia kuin minä täällä.
Aamupalan jälkeen lähdin Airport Plazalle Marian ja sen perheen kanssa, joiden mukana Maria tuli Thaimaahan. Meitä oli yhteensä 6 henkilöä: 2 naista (Riitta ja Tiina), minä ja Maria sekä 2 tyttöä (Jenni 11v, Johanna 6v) ja me kaikki saimme itsemme tungettua yhteen tuk-tukiin. Matka maksoi 70 bahtia koko konkkaronkalta yhteensä. Plazalla Johanna roikkui kädessäni koko ajan, kunnes erosimme. Mukava lapsi, mutta kuitenkin... :) Muut menivät kampaajalle, kun minä ja Maria lähdimme ostoksille. Löysin itselleni 499 bahtin hameen ja 295 bahtin paidan. Tarvitsisin vielä kengät, laukun ja siistimmän paidan. Söimme lounasta Black Canyon Coffeessa. Heillä on ihan maukkaita voileipiä.
Hotellilla meille tarjottiin buffet-päivällinen klo 17. Olinkin jo nääntymässä. Tarjottava ruoka oli tosin melko outoa, mutta selitän siitä tarkemmin, sillä lähes samaa ruokaa oli joka päivä. Jotkin ruokalajit oli hyvin maustettuja... ;) Tapasin Hennankin, joka oli siis myös tuttu Keuruulta. Hän on täällä Chiang Maissa tällä hetkellä.
Minä ja kolmas Johanna Bangkokista pidimme seuraa 7-14-vuotiaille lapsille kun aikuiset istuivat ensimmäisessä kokouksessaan. Pelasimme pelejä. Lapsissa on jokin ihmeellinen loppumaton energianlähde. Illalla menin Marian ja Bangkok-Johannan kanssa iltabasaarille. En ostanut mitään paitsi pehmiksen ja kokiksen Mäkistä. Tapasimme myös kadulla, keskellä kaupunkia elefantin ja miehen, joka maksua vastaan olisi antanut meidän syöttää norsulleen banaaneja. Kiva, eläinrääkkäystä... Emme kuitenkaan hyväksyneet tarjousta ja ne seurasivat meitä jonkin tovin. Se on todella yleistä, että ihmiset seuraa ja huutelee perään. Kaikkea tätä sai kestää koko illan tänäänkin. Muita villieläimiä, joita näimme kadulla, edusti vain yksinäinen torakka.
Johanna, huonekaverini oli melko lailla unessa, kun palasin. Ilmastointilaite on niin kovaääninen, että saan tuskin nukuttua. Ja kokoustilat ovat jäätäviä. Perähuoneessa, jossa pidetään lastenhoito, ilmastointi oli säädetty +10*C!!! Ja vessanpönttö ei ole kovin innokas huuhtomaan vessapaperia. Se varmaan tulvii aamulla. Täytyy olla valmiina aamun ensimmäisessä kokouksessa klo 8:15, joten aikainen on aamu. Saa sääliä minua...

We woke up with Johanna at 8:36 am. I left for breakfast with her and another Johanna and this Johanna's husband Jonne. Miika also joined us later. I knew none of them from before, except for Johanna, my roommate from the previous evening. In the dining hall I met Maria from my course in Keuruu in the beginning of January. Maria is working like me but in Laos like the rest of the group.
After breakfast I left for Airport Plaza with Maria and the family she came to town with. There was 2 women (Riitta and Tiina), me and Maria and 2 girls (Jenni 11, Johanna 6) and all 6 of us we managed to get ourselves into one Tuk-Tuk. 70 bahts for the whole trip from all of us. Johanna kept pulling my arm until we separated from them. Cute child, but still... :) The others went to the hairdresser's while me and Maria went shopping. I found myself a skirt 499B and a shirt 295B. I still need to buy shoes, a bag and another shirt. We had lunch at Black Canyon Coffee. The sandwiches there are nice.
At the hotel we had a buffet dinner at 5pm. I was already famished by then. The food was rather weird. I'll explain more on it later for they served same food every day. Some of it was very well spiced up. ;) I also met Henna from Keuruu as well. She's staying in Chiang Mai at the moment.
Me and 3rd Johanna from Bangkok kept the kids between 7 and 14 occupied while the adults had their first meeting. We played different games. There's neverending energy source in children. In the evening I went with Maria and this Bangkok-Johanna to the night bazaar. Bought nothing but sundae and coke from McDonald's. We met a man who offered us bananas to feed to his elephant in the middle of town in the street. Nice, torturing the poor animal... We didn't accept though and they started to follow us. Oh well, it's really common that people shout after you or follow you. It all happened tonight as well. Other wildlife we came across was just some cockroach.
Johanna, my roommate, was pretty much asleep when I got back. The aircon is so loud I can hardly sleep. And the conference rooms are freezing. The temperature in one of them was 10*C!!! Oh, and the toilet wasn't too willing to flush the toilet paper. It will probably flood in the morning. We have to be at the meeting by 8:15 so it's an early morning tomorrow. Feel free to feel sorry for me...
