Nothing new has happened really but I thought to write down something anyway.
School's killing me. I'm mentally all set for the summer, but then there's all this school work that needs to be done. And two exams waiting at the very end, on the 31st of May and then summer job begins on the 1st of June - no holiday for the greedy people, I guess. Been weighing other career options - not that seriously though. Three years left, I should be able to survive that.
My dear friend, Maxeen is on her way to South Africa at the moment and I feel pretty (extremely excruciatingly!) jealous. To make my mood worse, it sleeted today. And I found out an old friend of mine passed away last week. "Old" as I knew him better a few years ago, he was only 23.
I have had better days for sure.
Tomorrow (well actually today) is full of things to do. Will try to come up with some kind of "Smoking kills" presentation and maybe a healthier lifestyle plan for myself, for school. I hope HPK wins TPS in the ice hockey match.
Wow, that was all pretty depressing. My life is not so bad really. Maybe I'll delete this blog update in the morning, if I still remember. Just felt like babbling something.

I've decided that I'm going to write these in English now. To prep my skills. //Jos suomalaisilla on kysyttävää, niin suaapi kyssyy. :) Ett' silleen... //
So life consists mostly of school nowadays. It's fun. Not sure this whole public health nurse thing is really what I'm going to do in 40 years from now but it's most likely something I'm doing in 5 years from now. Injecting others is so much fun!
Oh, but how much more fun can English lessons be! The students' skills are very versatile so the lessons are quite versatile. The nursing language is all new to me since I don't use words like "stools" or "pass wind" or "A&E" in my everyday vocabulary. But then to balance these strange words we actually do learn some grammar as well:
Situation #1 (yesterday): "Ok, class, let's take a look at these words beginning with 'im-' or in-' (impatient, inconsiderable, impossible, ...). Now, how do you turn them into their opposites?"
- Excellent, you just take the 'im' or 'in' off.
Situation #2 (today): "They usually use the 12-hour clock in the UK. Can any of you tell me how they tell 5 in the morning and 5 in the evening apart?"
- Exactly, by adding a.m. or p.m.
Does anyone else ever get a feeling when you just know you are wasting your time..?!
Just tried on new ski boots since I couldn't fit a woollen sock in the old ones. These (I'm wearing them indoors now) are way better. Going skiing with dad tomorrow! Dad used up all his energy today with 6 km. Tomorrow we'll do 10 km. We'll see how it goes... :D The 10 km route is less hilly so it should be alright.
Weighing my exchange options at school these days. First internship I could do overseas is coming up next January but the applications should be done this spring. They offer UK, India, Kenya, Nepal, ... Any advice?

Vau, 2010. Tai kymmenen yli kahdeksan, kuten jotkut sanovat... Toivottavasti vuosi on alkanut kaikilla hyvin. Lopetin juuri Team America: Maailman poliisi -elokuvan katsomisen ja ajattelin kirjoittaa pari riviä. Se elokuva on niin outo! Vatsalihaksiin sattuu kaikesta nauramisesta.
Jotenkas, olen siis terveydenhoitajakoulussa tällä hetkellä. Tarkoitus olisi valmistua 3,5 vuoden päästä. En ole ihan 100% varma, että tämä on alani, mutta aion opiskella loppuun asti. Se on joka tapauksessa hyödyllinen homma, eikö?
Epätoivoinen tarve matkustaa, ihan minne vaan, on vallannut minut perusteellisesti. Katselen lentoja Iso-Britanniaan ja säästän rahaa Etelä-Afrikkaan. Mahdollisesti molemmat haaveet toteutuvat 12 kuukauden sisällä, mikä tuntuu ikuisuudelta tällä hetkellä.
Olen viime aikoina listannut ihmisiä, joita ikävöin ja joita haluaisin nähdä. En vain ihmisiä ulkomailta, mutta myös Suomesta. On outoa, kuinka joskus on "niiiin vaikeaa" nähdä edes suomalaisia kavereitani kasvotusten. Myönnän, että sitä kutsutaan laiskuudeksi, mutta ei toinenkaan osapuoli ole yrittänyt tulla katsomaan minua (olet AINA tervetullut!). Mutta ei se mitään, annan anteeksi. :) En kuitenkaan aio julkaista listaani, sillä se ei ole lähellekään vielä valmis.
Veljeni ja hänen kaverinsa alkavat tuossa juuri pelaamaan PES 2010, jalkapallopeliä. Siirryn varmaan seuraamaan sitä tuohon nojatuoliin. Kellokin on jo yli 2 aamulla, joten pitäisi varmaan lähteä kotiin. Se on jo reilusti yli nukkumaanmenoaikani... ainakin kahden tunnin päästä se on... ehkä neljän...
Joka tapauksessa, upeaa vuoden alkua kaikille!

So I'm in a nursing school at the moment. Should graduate in 3,5 years. Not 100% sure this is my field but I'll finish it. It's going to be useful anyhow, right?
The desperate need to travel somewhere, anywhere has bit me hard and deep. I'm looking for flights to UK and saving money for SA. Maybe both of those dreams will come true within 12 months, which feels like forever at the moment.
I've been listing people who I'm missing and who I'd want to see. Not just people overseas but also here in Finland. It's odd how it's sometimes "sooo haaard" to catch up (face to face) even with my Finnish friends. I admit, it's called being lazy but the other party has done nothing to come and see me either (you are ALWAYS welcome!). But it's alright, I forgive you. :) Well I'm not going to publish the list since it's nowhere near ready.
My brother and his friend are starting with PES 2010 soccer game. I'm probably moving to watch the match in the armchair. It's already 2am so I probably should leave for home as well. It's way past my bed-time... in two hours at least it is... maybe four...
Anyways, great beginning of the year to everyone!
