Ajattelin päivittää muutaman matkakuvan tänne hiljaiselosta nauttivaan blogiini. Tarkoitus olisi lähinnä näyttää, että Israelissa on todella kaunista ja rauhallista ja mahtavaa matkustaa. Ei siis mitään valtaisaa sisällissotaa meneillään, kuten uutiset ilmeisesti antavat ihmisten ymmärtää. Tässä siis tulee lähinnä valokuvia, mutta jos joku haluaa tietää reissusta enemmän, niin saa tietenkin kysyä: kommenteissa, Facebookin kautta tai muin mahdollisin yhteydenpitokeinoin.

I decided to update few travel photos to my blog which is enjoying its current life of peace and tranquility. The aim would be to show that it's really beautiful and peaceful in Israel and it is amazing destination to travel to. No major civil war going on like (it seems) the news are making people to believe. So below there are mostly photos but if someone wants to know more about the trip, feel free to ask: in comments or Facebook or through other possible means of communication.

Kaikkialla maisemat olivat upeita! // The scenery was amazing everywhere!

Onneksi ehdimme nähdä kukkaloistoakin. // Luckily we got to see some floral splendor.

Tunnen oloni loistavaksi, kun näen palmuja. Vähään olen tyytyväinen. //
I feel marvelous whenever I see palm trees. I'm quite easily satisfied.

Miten tuollaisia ruusuja kasvaa luonnossa?! // How can there be roses like that growing in the wild?!

Israel on historiallisesti vaikuttava! // Israel is historically impressive!

// Beautiful churches and interesting biblical places.

Täytyihän sitä vähän paria kaveriakin ikävöidä. (Huonoa) inside-läppää, pahoittelen...

// Had to miss a couple of friends a little as well. (Bad) inside joke, I apologize.

Kaikenlaisia hauskoja asioita nähtäväksi ja opittavaksi.

Hylätyssä bunkkerissa Syyrian rajalla. // In an abandoned bunker near the Syrian border. 

Pian tämän kuvanoton jälkeen kuulimme räjähdysten ääniä Syyrian sisällissodasta. Syyrian raja sijaitsee hieman pellon punaisten alueiden takana. // Shortly after taking this photo we could hear sounds of explosions originating from Syrian civil war. Syrian border is located behind the red areas in the field.

Israeliin asti piti mennä, että Minna näki elämänsä ensimmäisen kerran lehmiä läheltä (hajuetäisyydeltä). //

We had to go all the way Israel so Minna could see cows for the first time up-close (within smelling distance).

...ja Minna ei todellakaan ollut ennen saanut kokonaista kalaa tarjoiltuna eteensä. //

...and Minna clearly had not had a whole fish served to her on a plate before.

Minusta ruoka oli mainiota! Falafelit, olen rakastunut... //

Isä teki oman vaellusreissunsa Tiberiaan paikalliselle vuorelle, Arbelille. Emme rehellisesti sanottuna olettaneet häneen koskaan palaavan... // Dad made his own hiking trip to a local mountain of Tiberias, Mt. Arbel. We honestly didn't expect him to ever return...

Jerusalemissa. // In Jerusalem.

Kultainen portti, jonka kautta Messiaan on määrä palata Jerusalemiin. Muurattu sulttaani Suleiman Suuren toimesta vuonna 1500-luvulla ja eteen perustettu muslimien hautausmaa, ettei Messias voisi käyttää porttia  (4.Moos.19:16). Erikoinen ajatus sinänsä, että Kuningasten kuningas voitaisiin pysäyttää niin helposti. Ei ole ihan kunnolla ymmärretty tätä ajatusta kaikkivaltiaasta Jumalasta. // The Golden Gate through which the Messiah is to return to Jerusalem. Sealed in the 1500's by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and in front of it, a Muslim cemetery has been formed so that the Messiah wouldn't be able to use the gate (Numbers 19:16). Quite an interesting idea actually, as if the King of Kings could be stopped so easily. They haven't really understood the concept of almighty God.

Valokuvaaminen oli kielletty sapattina Jerusalemin Vanhassakaupungissa, joten luonnollisesti piti pari salaotosta ottaa. // Photography was forbidden during Sabbath in the Old city of Jerusalem, so naturally I had to take a few secret shots.

Onneksi kukaan ei huomannut... // Luckily no one noticed...

Via Dolorosa oli ihan tukossa. // Via Dolorosa was packed.

Jotkut lippaat oli kiinni, jotkut ei! Mutta eivätpä suomalaiset sotilaat mitenkään yllä israelilaisten kuntotasolle. Ei tullut yhtään plösöä vastaan ja asepalvelus on pakollinen lähes -kaikille-.  // Some of the magazines were attached, some were not. But Finnish privates are nowhere near as fit as their Israeli counterparts. Did not see a single chubby one and military service is compulsory to nearly -everyone-.

Wed 6/11/13 - "Good morning" is a contradiction

There's not enough coffee in the world to make me a morning person.

I woke up before 8 a.m. this morning for no real reason and this whole time I've been awake so far (almost 2 hours) I've been trying to understand what people do when they wake up this early on their days off. After my morning routines (which took me about 20 minutes) I've been utterly bored.

My flatmate is still sleeping (good for her!) so I can't even do anything noisy. Not that I can think of anything noisy to do: there has been nothing on TV this early (the modern children's series are stupid and there's a limit to my endurance of watching shopping channels) and it's too soon to do the weekly cleaning. If I even think about school work, I start feeling tired and will just end up going back to bed.

I have been working a lot of night shifts lately so I wasn't really prepared to have a an actual DAY off today. Will let the blog know if I manage to get anything done. Any good suggestions are gladly accepted.

UPDATE 7/11/13: So yesterday, I went "shopping". The town was full of elderly people and then some of my colleagues. After 1,5 hours I had bought a folder and some post-it notes. In the evening I visited my little sister, Sanna, and then later my parents where I helped my other sister, Minna, with her English presentation for school. After some grocery shopping I came home and went to bed by 11 p.m. Only to wake up this morning at 6.20 a.m. ...
